Experience points

You will also gain experience points as you play the game (usually just called 'xp'). You can spend your xp on stat and skill upgrades in the game. In order to do this, though, you will have to find people to teach you those skills. When you find a teacher, you can type 'learn <skill> from <teacher>'. If you have enough xp and the teacher has anything more to teach you, the proper amount of xp will be deducted from your character and that skill or stat will improve.

Health

How much damage you can take, and trust me, you will take damage, depends on your endurance stat. You can see how damaged you are with the 'status' (or 'st') command. This will also tell you what you're holding and what you're wearing, as well as how much money you have.

Money

When you start the game, you will have 300 credits. Invest them very wisely. There are lots of ways to make money, but most of them require tools of some kind. And of course you'll need to be able to defend yourself, so you'll need to know where to get the things you need to survive. There are many merchants in the city that provide all sorts of things. One place you'll probably want to visit right away is 'Protect ya Neck', the local body armor outlet.

Combat

There are all sorts of ways to fight. The most basic is with your fists. You can do this by typing 'attack <someone>'. There are lots of weapons available for purchase (try Ammu-Nation on High Street), and many that you can find in your travels. In order to use one to attack, you have to be holding it. To do this, type 'hold <weapon>'. Then, when you attack, you will use that weapon.

If you've been wounded in combat, or if you just want to prepare for that inevitability, you can visit 'Meds-4-Less'. The will have everything you need to get yourself patched back up. It helps a lot if you have the medical skill, or hang out with someone who does.
