Bags

Carrying a lot of stuff on your person can lead to heavy encumbrance. Putting things in a bag can alleviate this problem.

Bags and most other containers support the following commands:

 get <item> from bag -- get an item out of the container.
 put <item> in bag -- put an item in the container.
 open bag -- what it says.
 close bag -- see above.

The most important effect of bags and backpacks is weight reduction -- they effectively reduce the weight of whatever you put in them. You can see this effect by looking at your inventory before and after putting something in a bag and observing the total weight. This is meant to simulate the ability of bags to make carrying items less bulky. Some bags are better at this than others. You can find out which bags are best with the appraise <bag> command.
