PvP

Rules about PvP have changed recently. Here is the current situation, adapted from 'help PvP':

What is the policy on PvP?

Most of the world is now open PvP. Players can attack each other at any time, with the following exceptions:

• No newbie-level player can attack or be attacked at all.
• Members of carebear corps are protected from PvP.
• Secure areas - those protected by FCPD cams - show up as green, and PvP is not usually allowed in these areas. However, many exceptions to this rule exist.

When can I attack players or be attacked in the green areas?

• If a player challenges you (see help challenge), you can attack them at any time to answer the challenge.
• If a player has deleted their clone and gone hardcore (see help hardcore), they can attack you at any time! The first time they do this, they become an outlaw (see help outlaw). Outlaws are marked on the who list with a red +, and can be identified with appraise.
• If a player hacks your corp's gangland cams, they auto-challenge your entire corp, and you can attack them in revenge at any time.
• If a player picks a lock or breaks down a door belonging to an inactive member of a corp, the robber challenges the inactive player's entire corp. That means they can be attacked at any time by the challenged corp.
• If you are wearing a fursuit or have the cat ears mutation, anyone can attack and kill you.

What are the rules about robbery?

You cannot be robbed by another player as long as you are not banned, have been online in the past 60 days and have not challenged that player or the player's corp.

If you have challenged a player or the player's corp, you can be robbed for the duration of the challenge. Any lock that you are allowed to open can also be picked by those you have challenged. That means that the HQ of the corp you belong to can be robbed if you challenge a player or a corp.

Robbery is defined as breaking past some means of securing rooms or items. This means that unlocked containers, rooms and vehicles can be looted, as well as any items you find on the corpse of an unlucky player. Picking a lock or barging into an apartment still counts as robbery, however.

Is taking parts from crashed planes robbery?

No, after approximately 3 RL days, a crashed plane is considered abandoned, and anyone can salvage parts from it. Before this time, you are not able to salvage parts from it.

Is it possible to rob corp HQs?

Yes, but only if someone in that corp has challenged you or your corp.

If someone has challenged me or my corp, can I rob their apartment, boat, plane or HQ?

Yes.

Is destroying motorcycles considered robbery or PvP?

No, you are allowed to destroy other people's bikes.
