Mutant bootleggers are found in Glowstiller and are a popular high-level mob due both to the XP they award and the rather high value of their exterminator contract. The kill journal for eliminating a bootlegger is worth 400 XP.
Equipment
Bootleggers are spawned with one of four weapons: a shotgun, chainsaw, sledgehammer, or M-100 rifle. This variety of weaponry is an added challenge for some players, as it's difficult to protect yourself against all of these weapons at once. Sledgehammers, for instance, will do beat damage, while the shotguns and M-100 rifles will cause bullet damage. On the other hand, this can also make certain bootleggers accessible to players who otherwise wouldn't be able to safely fight them, such as users with high melee skills, who may be able to parry chainsaw users well enough to handle them while still being vulnerable to gun-wielders.
