What is an insta-cast?
The Insta-Cast is used to fix a broken limb. You can tell if you've broken a limb because walking around on it will probably hurt you a good deal, and you'll get messages saying so, diagnosing yourself with "diag me" or the "tac" command will confirm it.
If you're climbing anything higher than 3m or manage to get pushed out an aircraft, you might break a limb in falling down, although you can get broken limbs during combat if your opponent is strong and is using Fists or a Club weapon. If you have a first aid kit carrying an insta-cast is redundant.
