There's a lot of stuff in HellMOO that's pulled from other sources, as either homages or just references, this page is an attempt to figure out all of them.
Alien
The Weyland-Utani corporation that runs corpclave is named after the megacorp in Alien, Weyland Yutani. The chest bursters that abominations produce are from the series, born when face huggers implant eggs in the victim orally.
Blade Runner
Although the Bradbury is a real building, the version in HellMOO is based on the cyberpunk rendition of it in Blade Runner.
The Blade Trilogy
Blade is one of the many vampire hunters that wander Slagtown
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
She's also a slagtown vampire hunter.
Carrie
A mutation that allows you to light stuff on fire, just like the main character of the book.
C.H.U.D.
The sewers are occupied by monsters based on the titular creatures from the movie.
CSI: Miami
Horatio Caine wanders Freedom City, looking for crimes to spout witty oneliners about, he even carries his trademark Sunglasses of Justice.
Dune
In the Sea of Dunes, sandworms lurk, you can butcher teeth for them, which will eventually be able to be made into Crysknives, Stillsuits are also in development.
Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai
He lives in gangland, and even has his pigeons.
Ghostbusters
CSICOP, the ghost hunting place in Slagtown, takes most of its influence from this movie, as they sell Proton Packs, Ghost Traps, and jumpsuits bearing the familiar logo.
Half-Life
Scientists can produce an HEV Suit, like the one Gordon Freeman wears.
H.P. Lovecraft
Shoggoths exist out in Lurleen, and they're the same horrible mass of eyes, mouths and tentacles as stated in the material. Also, the admin Dagon probably gets its name after the homonymous tale.
Portal
Scientists can create a Portalgun, and works like it does in the game.
The Punisher
He lives in slagtown and comes out to hunt people that kill newbies.
Raffi
His song "Bananaphone" plays in your head if you wank too much.
Sealab 2021
The soda machines you can deploy are Bebop Cola brand, and you can tip them over onto yourself, trapping you. The Sealab itself is also an area in the game.
SLA Industries
Necanthrope, one of the main admins, is named after and takes his appearance from one of the creatures in this RPG. I believe Nullianacs also come from this material.
Snow Crash
The pizza place in Freedom City is named after the one Hiro worked at, Cosa Nostra Pizza, said pizza place also utilizes Deliverators.
Subgenius
There are many references to "Bob", pictures, pamphlets, and an NPC bears his likeness, plus a TV channel dedicated to slack. Care Dog is named after a character from Subgenius material.
The Stainless Steel Rat
The porcuswine enemies come from this book.
