As a Pyro, you cannot be ignited by fire-based weapons. Use your Shotgun or melee weapons against enemy Pyros in order to counter this.

Firewalker is a soak mutation which gives resistance against burn, irradiation, and acid damage. Prequisite for Solar Sponge. This mutation is one of the most useful soak mutations, as it's the only way to resist burn damage applied directly to the body, which comes from Carrie and other fire sources.

Location

Firewalker is in Apartment 202 in Sharpton Projects, which is notoriously difficult to find. Here are step by-step instructions:

Enter the Sharpton Projects and find Chester.
Search, then go east 5 tiles through the duct, then north.
Climb up twice. You should be on the 2nd floor; if you go all the way up, you've gone too far.
Search, then go southeast. Apartment 204 is just down the hall. The front door can be bashed down or picked.

Once inside Apartment 204, you'll meet Nazkar. Room 202 is below, but can't be reached, thanks to Moms. To bait Moms, give a rock of crank to Nazkar and sit tight until Moms shows up. Kill them both, either by attacking with an elemental weapon or using three EMP grenades, and then head down.

Effects

This mutation grants:

    +5-8 burn resistance
    +1-4 irradiation resistance
    +1-4 acid resistance

Advantages

Burning damage mechanics
Wearing burn armor all over won't actually protect against immolation. Burn damage from being on fire is a rare example of damage that is applied directly to your skin rather than your armor, which gives firewalker a unique advantage.

5-8 burn soak on skin. Together with Solar Sponge, this mutation only way to soak damage from being on fire, which crops up regularly throughout the game. Fire damage in general is also very common throughout the game. This is a very high value soak.
Irradiation and acid soaks. Both are exotic, and irradiation damage is mildly common in PvE, so these are medium value soaks.
Great for Vampires, who get set on fire regularly by the sun.
Useful for freaks, who get damaged by their own acidic blood if they aren't careful. 1-4 takes the edge off of the damage.
Offsets Yeti Fur fire weakness.

Disadvantages

Takes up a soak slot.

Appearance

Firewalker does not alter bodily appearance.

This is because burn damage from fire is applied to your body in general rather than a specific body part, so it bypasses all armor to burn your skin directly. Fire damage from a direct burn damage weapon (like a flame chain) will be soaked normally, and firewalker will help against that.
