The fuck's a Raider Boss?
Raider Bosses are relatively strong NPCs that use high-end weaponry and drop exo-plate scraps. They can be found in a variety of locations, and can teach the the weapon skill they use. (ie a Raider Boss with a shiver sword teaches blades, a piston hammer teaches clubs etc.) They have armor that is equivalent to an exosuit and are capable of fucking up people that aren't prepared.
Killing Raider Bosses is the only way to acquire exo-plate scraps, which are required to make exosuits, exohelms, and gator boots. As a result, stronger players hunt Raider Bosses. They watch FNN until they hear a name like "One-eyed Breakfast" and go off on an expedition to find him or her. Strategies for locating Raider Bosses are detailed below.
High-end weaponry?
Raider Bosses come in several different flavors, using weapons from all of the main combat skills (minus flails) with fairly high totals making them capable of also teaching those skills to 15 raw.
Clubs: Combustor hammers, Piston hammers.
Blades: Shiver sword.
Whips: Flame chain, Blacklash, Flash whip.
Rifles: Plasma rifle (oh dear), AR-17, Bullpup.
Pistols: Desert Hawk .72.
Spears: Assgays.
Fists: Pata gauntlets.
Where are these motherfuckers at?
They sometimes appear unexpectedly in Freedom City and Corpclave, which can have unpleasant consequences for weaker or unprepared players. After their raiding spree ends, they typically "flee" to one of numerous different locations. Several can be in the same location at a time, and they are able to wander.
Such locations include:
Mt. Fisty: In the cave, up a few climbs.
Sewers: Somewhere...
Sub Sewers: Somewhere...
Weezer Dam: Can usually be found along the top of the dam.
Mountain Pass: Northwest of the waterfall, near the yetis.
Grotto: Behind the Chimera, which must be killed first.
Canyon Depths: Right outside the room of the vampire mutation.
Stormfront: A few floors below Savage Michael.
Oil Refinery: In the party room.
Gangland: In the Syndicate Operations Shack, among other places
Birchwood: Behind a door
Slagtown: Behind a door
Botany Bay: Behind a door
Shoreline: Behind a trapdoor
Luskytear Plateau: Off on a trail somewhere
Screamer Base: Walk across the hallway to figure out where :)
And probably a lot of other places.
Being a medium helps you find them. Johnny Fiveaces in Slagtown will also give you tips about their location for a fee.
Strategy?!?!?!?!?!
Raider Bosses are only relatively strong, that is, strong compared to most other mid-level enemies. However, the ease at which you kill a Raider Boss largely depends on the weapon it uses; Raider Bosses with certain weapon types (whips) are insanely easy to kill while some with others (rifles(plasma rifle)) can pose a problem to the player that is not properly prepared. You can handle them at your own discretion, just make sure to have some dodge or good armor and to have 30+ weapon skill. Also, it's possible to kill them in Freedom city or Corpclave while they are fending off police officers.
