Things that might seem like a funny joke to you are not nearly as funny to the players, who are allowed and expected to take things that happen in the game seriously.  As an admin you are not such a person, your duty is to remain objective about in-game outcomes.

As an admin your duty is to extend the world in cool ways, but you must also remain as objective as possible about game outcomes. Many things you do as an admin can have consequences on the game world, and sometimes completely unexpected ones, so the golden rule for admins is Don't fuck with players.

By default, when you appear in the game world as an admin, you appear in disguise. This is because 'admins' are not supposed to exist in the game world. There is no such thing as a 'god' in the HellMOO roleplaying universe. What we do as admins takes place out of the direct view of players.

No No's

As an admin, you are absolutely prohibited from doing any of the following:

  • Reviving players who have died or healing them while still alive.
  • Giving money to any player for any reason.
  • Causing damage to players (to stats, health, loss of gear, etc).
  • Giving items of any sort (other than newbie items for actual newbies).
  • Giving out confidential information of any sort (including but not limited to, item information, who is an alt of who, etc).

If you do any of these things you risk losing your status as an admin. If you have an active player character in addition to your admin character these rules are especially important. Just because it's your character doesn't mean you're not influencing the economy and politics of the game for others. If you're tempted to abuse your power to get ahead in the game, please don't do it. People will notice it eventually and then there will be all sorts of unpleasant conversations and maybe since you were taking things way too seriously in the first place you might end up getting upset. Don't let that happen.
