Kakuri Island is home to a group of japanese isolationists who created the community in response to the savage crimes and social trauma that occurred after the Collapse. Most of the inhabitants of the island participate in a small sect of Zen Buddhists who engage in meditation training and some martial arts training.  Rumor has it that the island has several training facilities which can be used to improve abilities.

Kakuri Island is accessed by flying from the roof of the Any Port bar (or any other helipad). It's 80 bucks to fly here from Any Port, a worthwhile expense for post-newbie blades users looking for Katanas, or tougher players seeking the Fine Katana (from Blades trainer Roshi Heihachi, who for some reason uses Nunchaku) or Lotus Nodachi. Language skill and combat skill are both recommended for exploration of the island. Some puzzles can or must be solved without the use of violence, so be careful whom you kill. Be warned that the Nodachi is well-guarded, and you can expect to have your ass handed to you going after it without decent gear/armor or a well-equipped friend.
